Plugged Septic or Sewer Line

If your home is showing signs of slow drains, gurgling toilets, or backups, the culprit could be a plugged sewer or septic line. Chamberlain Septic & Sewer offers both indoor and outdoor line snaking using electric-powered equipment effective for runs up to 250–300 feet and capable of snaking various sized septic lines or sewer lines. When needed, we deploy camera inspection tools to pinpoint the blockage.
To avoid future clogs, we recommend not flushing items like wipes, condoms, or dental floss; minimizing hair going down drains; and avoiding planting large trees near septic/sewer lines (since roots can infiltrate and damage pipes). In serious cases, our team can excavate and expose lines for repair or replacement, and for large commercial lines we offer hydro-flush/vac trucks.
We emphasize that for a typical family of four, a septic tank should be pumped every 3-5 years to avoid solids overflowing into the leach field and clogging the soil’s pores. During service, our technician uncovers the access point, inserts a hose, and uses a vacuum truck to remove accumulated solids. Routine maintenance is essential to prolonging the life and efficiency of the septic system.
Pump Stations

We have the knowledge, skills, specific tools and equipment necessary to service various types of pump stations. We work on the following types of pump station troubles:
• Control panels
• Plumbing inside pump stations
• Electrical for alarms and control panels
• Pull pumps out of pump stations for assessment
• Replace and or adjust floats/switches
• Install new pumps
We are a distributor of Gould and Liberty Pumps. We have OSHA confined space certification and equipment.
Septic Tank and Leach Field Installation

Chamberlain Septic & Sewer offers full-service septic system installations for new and existing residences (and commercial sites). We install both poly and concrete tanks, choosing whichever best suits your property’s layout and access. Our project capabilities include conventional systems, raised fill sand beds, aerobic systems (Presby), mechanical treatment systems (Multi-Flo and Jet-Air), for challenging soil or compact lots, and Nayadic systems that omit a trash tank. We coordinate with county health departments, towns, and engineers to ensure your system meets local regulations and is appropriately designed for your land.
WE OFFER THE FOLLOWING TYPES OF SEPTIC SYSTEMS…..
• Conventional septic systems using existing soil on property with one of the following:
a) Infiltrator chambers
b) Perforated PVC pipe and stone
• Raised fill sand beds using health department-approved leaching sand
• Presby non-mechanical aerobic septic systems using advanced enviro-septic pipes
• Mechanical Aerobic Treatment Plants such as:
a) Multi-Flo Wastewater Treatment Systems
b) Nayadic Wastewater Treatment
c) Jet Air Wastewater Treatment Systems
• Eljen Mat Installation. This type of system provides extra surface area for bacteria to treat wastewater allowing for small drain fields in challenging sites.
We will recommend the correct septic system design for your property and needs. Each town and/or county has rules regarding which system can be approved for your property. We work with county health departments as well as all towns and engineers.

Septic Tank Inspections

Chamberlain Septic & Sewer provides professional septic system inspection services to assess the condition and performance of your system before a real estate transaction or as routine maintenance. Our inspection includes a check of baffles, the integrity of the tank, sludge levels, and signs of leakage or structural damage. After completing the evaluation, we supply a detailed report identifying any issues that need attention—such as repairs, or replacements—to ensure your system complies with health regulations and operates reliably.
FOR REAL ESTATE TRANSACTIONS
We offer septic system inspections for real estate transactions to assess existing sewage disposal systems. Current water usage affects the outcome of an inspection. If a home is unoccupied, the liquid level in the septic tank might be below normal and the system’s operating condition cannot be determined. We will recommend steps to simulate family water usage (known as a hydraulic load test) which will allow a more accurate septic inspection to be performed.
THE PROCESS FOR SEPTIC TANK INSPECTIONS
During septic tank inspections, our technician will locate your tank and remove sod over the access lid to open and view the operating wastewater level. Then the septic tank will be emptied via the vacuum truck. Because of this process, it allows the technician to visually inspect the condition of the tank, the inflow and outflow baffles, and lid. Then they do a visual inspection of the leach field area to see if there is any surface water.
PHYSICAL CONDITION
We will inspect the physical condition of the septic tank and lid. It should be noted that all steel septic tanks will need to be replaced. If there appears to be any structural compromise to a tank, it will also be a reason for replacement.
Replacement of the inflow or outflow baffles will be needed if they are missing. The purpose of an inflow baffle is to direct the wastewater down into the tank which helps the wastewater settle inside the tank to prevent agitation of solids. The purpose of an outflow baffle is to prevent solids from leaving the septic tank and destroying the leach field.
SUMP PUMP INSPECTIONS
Our technician will also inspect the sump pump in your basement if applicable. The sump pump must discharge groundwater away from the septic system. We will also inspect laundry waste water for acceptable discharge. It is especially relevant that your laundry waste be connected directly to the septic tank. It is also important to note that it is not acceptable to use a sump pump as a pump for laundry waste.
After the septic inspection is complete, a report will be provided for the property transfer.
TO PREVENT DAMAGED OR PLUGGED SEWER/SEPTIC LINES
Do not plant large trees near these lines. Our power snake equipment can be used to cut and remove tree roots from inside the pipe. Tree roots continually grow; they may expand and exert considerable pressure at the crack or joint where they entered the pipe. The force exerted by the tree root growth will break the pipe and may result in total collapse of the pipe. Severe tree root intrusion and pipes that are structurally damaged will require replacement. We have excavation equipment to expose the line for repair or replacement.
GUTTERS, DOWNSPOUTS, STORM DRAINS, AND SUMP PUMP LINES
These can plug, and our snaking equipment can be used to clear them as well.
